Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a form of a martial art that focuses on the importance of ground fighting for self-defense as well as a martial sport. The art evolved from Judo in the early 20th century in Brazil and was made popular in the mid 1990’s in America with introduction of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.The goal of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is to offer an answer to any kind of attack whether standing or on the ground by using movement and leverage to attack your opponent weakest points. The Techniques focus on an array of joint locks and chokeholds that are used to subdue any attacker regardless of size and strength.

Students will also learn the importance of the “Tap Out” as a way to signal submission while applying these techniques. You will also be given the opportunity to implement your knowledge in our sparring and competition classes.
